Territory Gateway begins by understanding what you are trying to achieve, the context around the requirement and what is already known.
From there, we determine what the requirement calls for, what role Territory Gateway may appropriately play and what the next step should be.
The process is structured, but the engagement is proportionate to the requirement.

Start With the Requirement
You do not need to arrive with the pathway already worked out.
The starting point is the outcome you are trying to achieve.
An initial conversation helps us understand:
- the intended outcome;
- relevant context;
- what is already known;
- key constraints or priorities;
- who is already involved;
- and where uncertainty remains.
We do not begin by assuming a particular provider, service or solution.
We begin by understanding the requirement.
Determine the Appropriate Next Step
Not every requirement needs the same level of involvement.
After the initial discussion, Territory Gateway may determine that the most appropriate next step is to:
- explore the requirement further;
- develop a decision-ready pathway;
- support coordination of an agreed pathway;
- connect or refer the requirement to another provider;
- suggest that the client progress independently;
- or not proceed where TG would not add sufficient value.
The aim is to match the engagement to what the requirement genuinely needs.
Explore
Explore brings clarity.
Where the delivery pathway is still unclear, Territory Gateway can investigate the requirement further.
This may involve clarifying the scope, researching relevant context, identifying capability needs, testing assumptions, examining constraints and identifying important unknowns.
The purpose of Explore is not to force progression.
It is to establish enough clarity to determine what should happen next.
An Explore engagement may lead to progression, modification, referral, further testing or a decision not to continue.
Pathway
Pathway gives direction.
Where a credible route exists, Territory Gateway can develop a structured, decision-ready pathway.
Depending on the requirement, this may include:
- viable options;
- required capabilities;
- relevant providers or specialist inputs;
- dependencies;
- responsibilities;
- risks and uncertainties;
- commercial considerations;
- sequencing;
- and the next decision or action required.
The pathway is designed to help the client understand how the requirement may move forward before committing further resources.
The client may then choose to progress independently or ask Territory Gateway to remain involved.
Coordinate
Coordinate keeps it moving.
Where the client chooses to proceed, Territory Gateway may support progression of the agreed pathway.
This can include:
- connecting relevant parties;
- supporting engagement with providers or specialists;
- coordinating information and interfaces;
- tracking agreed actions and dependencies;
- maintaining visibility across multiple workstreams;
- and helping keep the requirement moving toward the agreed outcome.
The level of coordination depends on the shape of the requirement.
Clear Roles. Clear Responsibilities.
Territory Gateway helps configure the pathway and coordinate capability where required.
It does not replace it. The pathway may involve the client, Territory Gateway and one or more external organisations.
Each party remains responsible for the capability they provide.
Specialist, professional, regulated and technical work remains with the appropriately qualified provider.
The client retains the decisions, approvals and authority relevant to its requirement.
Territory Gateway’s role is defined around the requirement and agreed before work progresses.
If the requirement changes materially, the scope can be revisited.

This provides discipline behind the work.
The client-facing engagement, however, may be much simpler:
Explore → Pathway → Coordinate
Not every requirement passes through every stage, and the depth of work should reflect the complexity, risk, uncertainty and value of the requirement.
How Commercial Engagement Works
Where paid work is required, the scope and fee are agreed before that stage begins.
Different stages may be priced differently because the work involved can vary significantly between requirements.
Explore and Pathway work may be scoped as separate defined engagements
Ongoing coordination may use a different commercial structure depending on the requirement and how delivery is organised.
External provider and specialist costs remain distinct from Territory Gateway’s own fees unless explicitly agreed otherwise.
You Stay in Control of the Decision
Territory Gateway may help investigate, configure and coordinate the pathway, but the client remains responsible for deciding whether to proceed.
A requirement may lead to:
Proceed. Modify. Test further. Route elsewhere. Hold. Stop.
A useful outcome is not necessarily that a project proceeds. A useful outcome is greater clarity about what the responsible next decision should be.
